Moving time on quickly ...
I stay in that hotel a few nights. I gradually learn to become an expert in public transport, and stop my reliance on taxis. Just as well. Parisian taxis will always take the long way round (via the Periphique). They even ask you "Is that OK, monsieur?" And of course, being a polite Brit, who cannot speak a lot of French, not too sure what you have been asked, you always agree.
Saving nearly 25 Euros each trip, especially when you don't have a lot of cash on you, is a powerful incentive to learn the public transport routes.
"L" seems to be fine, as long as she lies down. The moment she tries to sit up, her head explodes in pain. Gradually, over the course of her stay, the time she can stay upright increases steadily to a couple of hours. The only long term problem she has is keeping her food down.
